RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Officials with Mitt Romney's campaign for president say the former governor of Massachusetts, along with Republican committees, raised more than $100 million from supporters in June.

The Obama for President campaign has not yet released its fundraising total for June.

Romney's $100 million mark sets a record for GOP fundraising. President Obama holds the overall record. In late 2008, then candidate Obama raised $150 million.

Romney will accept the Republican party's presidential nomination later this year in Tampa, Florida. Speculation about his vice presidential choice is rampant. Earlier this week, the candidate's wife, Ann Romney, said her husband is considering a woman for the number two job.

President Obama will be renominated by Democrats at the party's convention in Charlotte in early September.
