RALEIGH, SGRToday.com – The Pat McCrory campaign has taken another step in its fight against an ad it says is illegal and factually incorrect. On Thursday the campaign announced it filed a lawsuit against the

Democratic Governors Association and the organization the campaign says is unlawfully promulgating the DGA’s message, North Carolina Citizens for Progress.

“Beginning on or about May 18, 2012 through May 24, 2012, the Defendants and other Defendants to be named knowingly, willfully and intentionally published and threatened to continue publishing in Wake County and throughout the State of North Carolina false, fraudulent and defamatory statements with actual knowledge and reckless disregard for the truth thereby impugning the personal honor, integrity and reputation of Patrick (“Pat”) McCrory,” said the news release that announced the suit was being filed in Wake County court.

“Plaintiff will seek actual and punitive damages to be determined by a jury,” the release continued.

The campaign is pushing television stations to stop airing the ad.
