RALEIGH, (AP) — North Carolina legislators are meeting with hundreds of members of the state's business community at an annual event where corporate wish lists are made known.

The North Carolina Chamber hosts its annual conference in Raleigh on Tuesday, just days after this year's session of the General Assembly got started. The business lobby uses the event to tell lawmakers about changes to state law they want to help companies profit and expand.

The chamber's conference also is a chance for state politicians to curry favor with business executives who might be able to help with this year's election campaigns.

Both candidates for governor are among the speakers, Democrat Walter Dalton and Republican Pat McCrory. The top leaders of the state House and Senate are also invited.
