Former State Senator Jim Phillips Sr. of Lexington, NC passed 25 away May 25th at age 86. He represented Davidson County in the state senate from 1997-2001.

Governor Roy Cooper shared the following statement:

“I served with State Senator Jim Phillips, Sr. and I know he made a real difference in the lives of so many North Carolinians, particularly those who are the most vulnerable. I will miss him and I am deeply grateful for his friendship and public service.”
