A bill that would ban flying a drone over a prison or jail has passed the House Transportation Committee.

The legislation now heads to the House Judiciary 2 Committee.

If passed, anyone flying a drone flying over a prison or jail would be fined $500 and the aircraft would be confiscated.

Bill sponsor Rep. Allen McNeill told the committee there have been two incidences of drones flying over prisons or jails.
