Wendy Enochs of Greensboro has been appointed by Governor Pat McCrory to fill a vacant Court of Appeals seat. The vacancy was created by the resignation of Judge Martha Geer, who resigned on May 13, 2016. Enochs will serve the remainder of Judge Geer's term, which runs through December 31, 2016. 
 
Enochs is currently the Chief District Court Judge for Guilford County. She has served in this role since May 2011 and has been a district court judge for 21 years. She regularly presides in all courtrooms including criminal, civil, juvenile, traffic and specialty courts.
 
Chief Judge Enochs has served on various statewide committees including the Chief Justice's Judicial Ethics Commission and the Juvenile Justice Judicial Committee. She currently serves on the Governor's Crime Commission, the Family Court Advisory Committee and the District Court Judges' Board of Governors. She also implemented the first Mental Health Court in Guilford County in 2008. 
 
Chief Judge Enochs received her Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from UNC Greensboro in 1988 and her Juris Doctor from Campbell University School of Law in 1991. 
 
This seat is on the ballot in November. The winner of the election will begin a full eight year term on January 1, 2017. Chief Judge Enochs is not a candidate for the seat.
