Public Hearing Schedule For Input On African American Monument at State Capitol Print

RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Four public hearings are scheduled for the state to receive feedback on a new monument on the State Capitol grounds in Raleigh dedicated to commemorating the achievements of African Americans.

Hearings will be held over the next month in Greensboro, Charlotte, Rocky Mount and Fayetteville.

The public is being asked to weigh in on precise location at the Capitol, materials, size and scale of a proposed monument.
 
The public hearings will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays at the following locations:

-- March 1 at the International Civil Rights Center and Museum, 134 South Elm Street in Greensboro;

-- March 8 at the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American + Culture, 551 South Tryon Street in Charlotte;

-- March 22 at the Braswell Memorial Library, 727 North Grace Street in Rocky Mount;

-- March 29, at the Shaw Auditorium at Fayetteville State University, 1200 Murchison Road in Fayetteville.
