RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - With a veto threat looming from President Obama, Gov. Pat McCrory is urging the president not to follow through and veto a bill that stops the flow of Syrian refugees into the United States.

The bill, championed by North Carolina Congressman Richard Hudson, would stop the president's plan to allow thousands of Syrians to come to the U.S. until assurances are made that each one does not pose a security risk.

The bill passed the House Thursday by a vote of 289 to 137. Forty-seven Democrats voted for it despite lobbying from the White House.

The president has accused supporters of halting the flow of refugees of being afraid of widows and orphans.

Authorities investigating the horrific terrorist attack by ISIS on Paris said the terrorist ringleader -- killed in a shootout Wednesday -- posed as a refugee to enter Europe.

More than 120 people were killed in the terrorist attack.
