RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Gov. Pat McCrory has ordered that all North Carolina and United States flags on state facilities be lowered to half staff in memory of the victims of the Roseburg, Oregon shooting

The flags were lowered Monday and will stay at half-staff until sunset on Tuesday.

“An unspeakable act of evil prematurely ended the lives of nine of our fellow countrymen and women in Oregon,” the governor said in a statement announcing the decision to lower the flags. “My heart breaks for the victims’ families and friends and for this senseless loss of life. I urge all North Carolinians to join Ann and me in keeping the victims, the survivors and their families in our thoughts and prayers and may this tragedy remind us of the precious nature of every human life.”
