RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Massive flooding that continues to drench South Carolina has prompted Gov. Pat McCrory to deploy rescuers to help to the Palmetto state.

"With the traumatic flooding occurring in South Carolina, I've directed North Carolina's Emergency Management officials to provide as much logistical support as they need from us," said the governor in a statement released by the Department of Public Safety (DPS). "Our state has sufficient personnel and supplies to keep North Carolinians safe if conditions warrant."

According to DPS, four North Carolina Helo Aquatic Rescue Teams deployed Sunday to help rescue stranded residents and motorists who are trapped in the rising flood waters.

The highly trained and specialized teams are stationed in Salisbury and consist of three to five rescue technicians and National Guard pilots and crew.
