Three Technical Corrections Bills Signed Into Law By Governor McCrory Print

RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Gov. Pat McCrory has signed into law three technical corrections bills that affect a range of state agencies and operations.

The bills, signed Thursday, are:

S.B. 119 – General Statutes Commission Technical Corrections 2015, an omnibus bill of policy technical corrections.
H.B. 735 - DPS Changes, a bill to make necessary technical corrections requested by the Department of Public Safety, specifically, technical correction to the budget regarding the State Bureau of Investigation procurement of the new statewide Automated Fingerprint Identification System, clarifying correction to House Bill 562 regarding use of fingerprints by the SBI and  clarifying correction regarding the reorganization of the State Capitol Police.

S.B. 159 - Corrected Revaluations/Minimal Property Tax Refunds, a bill to make various technical modifications to law regarding the property valuation correction process. The bill will clarify the issue regarding underbilled properties that have changed owners during the specific tax years in question so that the new owners are not responsible for unpaid taxes. The bill also clarifies when interest will be charged, authorizes payment plans for taxpayers, and provides options to the county for the disposition of minimal refunds. The bill also provides for interested to be added to refunds for taxpayers that were overcharged.
