RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Senate Republicans rolled out their proposed budget plan Tuesday for general operating funds for the 2015-17 biennium, and it includes a key recommendation from Gov. Pat McCrory: the creation of ana executive level Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.

The head of  the proposed department would be the Secretary of of Military and Veterans Affairs. The department would serve as the home for a variety of veterans and military programs and services that currently exist in state government but are controlled by numerous parties.

The Senate budget document comes days after the House of Represenatives released its plan, and weeks following Gov. Pat McCrory's proposed revenue and spending plan.
