RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - When military members retire from the armed services, North Carolina's Department of Public Safety hopes they'll consider becoming highway patrol troopers and corrections officers.

That's the aim of the NC Military Pipeline initiative, which seeks to connect retiring service members with employment in North Carolina, whether for state government or private business.

“This initiative not only helps the department hire quality candidates with compatible work experience, but it also helps ensure that veterans don’t have to worry about finding and securing stable employment before they leave the service,” said DPS Secretary Frank L. Perry in a statement. “This is just one way to show appreciation to those who have served their country and want to extend that service on the state level.”

At three hiring events at military bases in six weeks, DPS has made more than 30 conditional offers of employment with additional offers pending completion of required testing.
