RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - U.S. and North Carolina flags will be at half-staff from sunrise through sunset Friday in recognition of Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Gov. Pat McCrory ordered the flags lowered and encouraged North Carolinians to display flags at half-staff at their homes and businesses on that day as well.

“North Carolina is blessed to have the best law enforcement agencies in the nation – professional men and women who have dedicated their lives to upholding the rule of law while honoring the constitutional freedoms we hold most dear. On Peace Officers Memorial Day we recognize with special honor those in law enforcement who have sacrificed on our behalf,” said the governor in a statement.
