RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Acting State Bureau of Investigation Director B.W. Collier is now the permanent head of the agency. Collier was confirmed by the North Carolina General Assembly on Tuesday on a unamimous vote. He was appointed acting director by Gov. Pat McCrory in 2014.

Collier will serve an eight-year term and will oversee the operations of more than 300 SBI and Alcohol Law Enforcement special agents located in offices across the state.

“B.W. Collier is a man of great integrity and intelligence," said the governor in a statement. "His proven experience and capable leadership, ably demonstrated as Acting Director, are assets to the men and women working in this professional law enforcement agency. I want to thank members of the House and Senate for their thoughtful consideration and unanimous approval of his nomination.”

Collier served as an SBI special agent for 26 years, and was named director of Alcohol Law Enforcement in October 2013. He has been a drug investigator, pilot, arson and crime scene agent, canine handler, technical agent and bomb squad commander.
