RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - The state Ethics Commission has released a summary of the 2014 official, formal advisory opinions it issued.

Topiccs of the opinions include conflict of interest, gift and gift ban exceptions, the lobbying law's so-called "cooling off" period, and the use of images on the internet by a public servant.

Reliance on a formal advisory opinion confers immunity from investigation by the Commission or the Secretary of State’s Office, according to the document. A request for a formal advisory opinion must be in writing.
