RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - The state commission that studies data on child deaths in North Carolina is welcoming a new member and two reappointed members.

Gov. Pat McCrory's office made the announcements of two-year terms for three people to the North Carolina child Fatality Task Force. They are:

Dr. Sarah Verbiest (Orange County) – Verbiest is the director and co-founder of the Every Woman Southeast Coalition. This is a reappointment.

Michelle Hughes (Durham County) – Hughes is the executive director of NC Child.

Buck Wilson (Cumberland County) – Wilson is the health director of the Department of Public Health. This is a reappointment.

The group also examines laws, rules and policies relating to confidentiality of and access to information that affects agencies with responsibilities for children, including state and local health, mental health, social services, education and law enforcement agencies, to determine if those regulations inappropriately impede the exchange of information necessary to protect children from preventable deaths.
