RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - A mistake by the Department of Revenue is resulting in the mailing of nearly 43,000 corrected Form 1099-Gs to taxpayers. The corrected forms will be mailed this month.

The problem is sourced to consumer tax not being included on the original form, which was mailed in January.

"The error generally only affected 1099-Gs for taxpayers who itemized deductions on their 2013 federal return and claimed use tax owed on their 2013 North Carolina state return," according to an agency statement.

The 1099-G provides taxpayers with the amount of their state tax refunds issued during 2014. That amount may need to be reported as income on the taxpayer’s 2014 federal individual income tax return.
