RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - The acting director of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) looks headed for a permanent appointment to the seat. On Thursday, Gov. Pat McCrory nominated Bernard W. (B.W.) Collier for an eight-year term. He must be confirmed by the General Assembly.

“The SBI has made tremendous progress under B.W. Collier’s leadership in a very short period of time,” said Governor McCrory in a statement. “His intelligence and experience has reformed the agency and I am pleased to nominate him as the official SBI Director. North Carolina is in great hands and I look forward to building on the great progress that B.W. has already made.”  
    
The director oversees more than 300 SBI and Alcohol Law Enforcement special agents. Prior to his tenure as acting SBI Director, Collier spent 26 years as an SBI special agent.
