RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Saying she has done "an exceptional job as steward of North Carolina taxpayer dollars," Gov. Pat McCrory has nominated Dr. Linda Morrison Combs as North Carolina State Controller. The governor first appointed the Winston-Salem resident to the position in May 2014. The nomination is subject to confirmation by the General Assembly.

"Our fiscal health is strong and stable in large part to her leadership and oversight, and I look forward to the continuation of her great work," the governor said in a statement.
 
Combs was Controller for the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) from 2005-2007. As Controller for OMB, Combs regularly briefed President George W. Bush on the financial management of federal departments. She also frequently testified before numerous Congressional oversight committees.
