RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - A retired U.S. Department of Energy official who now lives in Carteret County will take a seat on North Carolina's Energy Policy Council.

John Brodman served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Energy Policy, Office of Policy and International Affairs in the federal government from 1981 to his retirement in 2006.

He has been appointed to a three-year term by Gov. Pat McCrory. The council’s purpose is to advise and make recommendations to the governor on increasing domestic energy exploration, development and production within the state and region to promote economic growth and job creation.
