RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Supreme Court Associate Justice R.N. “Bob” Hunter Jr. will take a seat on the North Carolina Court of Appeals when his term on the state's highest court ends on December 31.

Hunter will fill the Appeals Court vacancy created by Court of Appeals Judge Sam J. Ervin IV, who will become an Associate Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court on January 1.

“Justice Hunter’s legal background and experience makes him well-suited to return to the Court of Appeals,” said Gov. Pat McCrory in a statement. "I am grateful Justice Hunter has agreed to devote his considerable legal skills and experience to the continued service of our state.”

Justice Hunter resides in Morehead City.
