RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - North Carolina's economic recovery continued in November, with the unemployment rate dropping again. The state Department of Commerce reports the rate is now 5.8 percent, down from 6.3 percent in October.

The 5.8 rate is the lowest level in six years.

 “Our state’s unemployment rate has now dropped 3 full points since I entered office two years ago," said Gov. Pat McCrory in a video statement. "But what I’m most happy about is the 176,000 new jobs we’ve added since I became governor.”

 North Carolina’s November 2014 unemployment rate was 1.4 percentage points lower than a year ago, according to The number of people employed increased 9,964 over the month to 4,362,813, and increased 31,498 over the year, according to Commerce data. The number of people unemployed decreased 23,498 over the month to 270,675, and declined 63,163 over the year.
