RALEIGH (AP) - Wording changes and other final touches are being added to fracking rules before a vote by the North Carolina Mining and Energy Commission.

Last week, the commission discussed changes recommended by members who oversaw the gathering of public comments on fracking. Commissioners have until the end of Wednesday to offer input on the rules before a vote expected Friday. The state Legislature will have the final say on the rules during its session that begins in January.

Commissioner James Womack said the panel generally agreed on rule revisions during last week's meetings, so the remaining work largely amounts to "wordsmithing."

Womack says the commission will discuss revisions rule-by-rule before voting on the entire set. He doesn't think the commission will need to use a backup meeting date of Nov. 17.
