RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Five state commissions tht operate under the auspices of the Department of Administration will hold meetings in November. On Monday the agency released the following schedule.

November 6, 2014

Human Relations Commission – The MLK Commission will meet from 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. in Room 2109L of the Administration Building, 116 West Jones Street, Raleigh. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the program for the MLK Bell Ringing event, catering the reception of the State Employees MLK Holiday Observance Program and the FY 2015 MLK grant program. NC License to Give Trust Fund Commission – The Commission will meet from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Miracle In Sight, Inc., 3900 Westpoint Blvd., Suite F, Winston-Salem, NC. The purpose of the meeting is to review, discuss and vote on grant applications.  These applications were received for consideration to further the mission of the License to Give Trust Fund Commission as it relates to organ, eye and tissue donation education, and awareness and Advance Care Planning. State Ethics Commission – The Commission will meet from 9:00 a.m. until business is completed at 424 N. Blount Street, Raleigh, NC. The purpose of the meeting is to consider requests for advice and advisory opinions, complaints and inquiries and any such other business as may come before the Commission. Youth Advocacy and Involvement Office – The State Youth Council will meet from 6:00 p.m. on November 14 until 1:00 p.m. on November 16 at the Country Inn and Suites, 572 English Road, Rocky Mount, NC. The purpose of the meeting is to review, discuss and make recommendations for funding to be awarded to organizations that applied for small grants. Academic Standards Review Commission – The Commission will meet from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Commission Room, 5th Floor, Administration Building, 116 W. Jones St., Raleigh. The purpose of the meeting is to continue the Commission's comprehensive review of all English Language and Mathematics standards that were adopted by the State Board of Education under G.S. 115C-12(9c), and propose modifications to ensure that those standards meet all of the criteria listed in Section 2(c) of Senate Bill 812. NC Commission of Indian Affairs – The Recognition Committee will meet from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Room 3032 West, Administration Building, 116 West Jones Street, Raleigh, NC. November 21-23, 2014

Youth Advocacy and Involvement Office – The NC SADD Annual Leadership Conference will be held from 3:00 p.m. on November 21 until 1:00 p.m. on November 23 at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center, 4700 Emperor Blvd., Durham, NC. The purpose of the meeting is for students to take part in a retreat to learn new peer prevention strategies to implement in their schools and communities.
