RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Peer prevention is the theme for a new Students Against Destructive Decisions conference to be held next month in Research Triangle Park, sponsred by the Department of Administration's Youth Advocacy and Involvement Office.

The registration deadline for the conference is Friday.

The 2014 conference theme is “Avengers: Saving the World SADD Style.” Speakers include David Daggett of Safe and Sober Prom, Annette Carrington-Johnson of the Durham County Health Department, NC Highway Patrol Trooper Richard West of Onslow County, VIP for a VIP (Vehicle Injury Protection for a Very Important Person), and for the first time in North Carolina, the Ford Driving Skills for Life program.

The conference will begin at 3:00 p.m. Friday and continue through 12:00 p.m. Sunday. It will feature a variety of workshops for students and advisors and group activities related to SADD’s mission: assisting young people in their schools and communities to promote highway safety and reduce teen involvement with alcohol, other drugs, violence, teen pregnancy and other challenges. Members of the 2014-15 SADD Student Advisory Board will present workshops and lead many of the sessions.
