RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Acting State Bureau of Investigation Director B.W. Collier told a legislative committee this week that his agency has already found ways to save money and streamline operations, now that the organization has moved to the Department of Public Safety.

The agency was formerly part of the Department of Justice.

“We have reorganized some of the upper level management functions that will ultimately lead to some monetary savings, but more importantly are designed to provide for more effective use of resources," Collier said.

The management team includes:

Van Shaw, deputy director, who will oversee the Special Investigations Unit and the Internal Affairs Unit. He will directly oversee public corruption investigations and internal complaints against employees.

Mark J. Senter, deputy director for Alcohol Law Enforcement, which was merged with the SBI, will oversee all ALE operations.

Janie Pinkston Sutton, assistant director of Field Operations, a division comprised of field agents that provide expert investigative assistance with criminal cases when requested by local police, sheriffs, district attorneys and judges.

Renee Robinson, assistant director for Special Operations

Mark Brewington, assistant director for Administrative Services

The assistant director position for Professional Standards has been eliminated.
