Donald Van der Vaart Named Deputy Secretary For DENR Print

RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Department of Environment and Natural Resources Secretary John E. Skvarla has named Donald van der Vaart as deputy secretary for the agency. 
 
Van der Vaart will continue his duties as the state’s energy policy advisor as well.
 
 Van der Vaart had been a longtime supervisor in the department before he was named energy policy advisor in January. He has an extensive background in energy, environmental and regulatory work in academia, state government and the private sector.
 
 Before serving as energy policy advisor, van der Vaart worked as a program manager and later an engineering supervisor for the N.C. Division of Air Quality. He also teaches environmental policy and law at N.C. State University.
