RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - In a sign of respect for former state legislator Harris Blake, Gov. Pat McCrory has ordered North Carolina state flags at all state facilities to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise until sunset on Thursday, June 12.

This order lowers flags in memorial of the life and legacy of Sen. Blake on the day of his internment. Blake served five terms, representing Harnett and Moore counties until his retirement at the end of 2012.

Blake passed away Monday in Pinehurst. He was 84.

Blake also served in the Reagan administration.

In 2013 he was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine by Gov. Pat McCrory. It is the state's highest honor.
