RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) -  More than 80 North Carolina college students are about to get a taste of the real world of public service, having been selected for 2014 summer internships with state government agencies.

Now in its 44th year, the State Government Internship Program is coordinated by the Youth Advocacy and Involvement Office in the Department of Administration.

Internships have begun and run until late summer. The goal is to provide students hands-on training in a wide range of state government workplaces.

Interns will be paid $8.25 an hour and will work for 10 weeks.

The interns come from 42 counties, 30 public and private colleges, universities, and law schools, and more than 48 different fields of study ranging from accounting to zoology.

The list of interns can be found at http://www.doa.nc.gov/yaio/documents/interns/2014StateGovernmentInternshipSelections.pdf
