RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Health and Human Services Secretary Aldona Wos is thanking state and local government staff for pitching in with a concentrated effort to end the backlog of food stamp applications and certifications. Her comments come in the wake of news from the U.S. Deparment of Agriculture that the state has met the federal requirements to catch up.

According to HHS, the USDA acknowledged compliance in a letter received earlier this week.

"We are pleased that the USDA has acknowledged our commitment to North Carolina's most vulnerable citizens," said Secretary Wos in a statement.  "I offer a sincere thank you to the state and county staff for their outstanding work and dedication, and I look forward to continuing our joint efforts to sustain timely processing of food stamp cases."
