RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - New three-year contracts for office staples are expected to save state taxpayers $5 million per year, according to the agency that oversees the contracts.

The Department of Administration’s Division of Purchase & Contract announced Tuesday that Forms and Supply, Inc. is the sole winner of the contract for office supplies, and Mac Papers as the sole winner of the three year state term contract for office paper. Savings are likely to grow as schools and local governments participate in the contracts and when the contracts’ spend thresholds are met, according to DOA.

Forms and Supply, Inc. is a historically underutilized business based out of Charlotte and an incumbent supplier from the previous office supply contract. The new office supply contract covers over 4,000 office supply products that include general consumables, small office equipment, envelopes, and specialty paper and toner. This is a mandatory state term contract for state agencies, departments, institutions, universities and community colleges (unless exempted by statute).

Schools and local governments may choose to use the state contract to take advantage of the negotiated low prices.

Mac Papers, an incumbent supplier from the previous office paper contract, operates regionally in the Southeast with six North Carolina branches and “mini-mac” locations. The new office paper contract covers dual purpose paper, offset paper, and various paper sizes and colors. Like the office supply contract, office paper is a mandatory state term contract with an option for schools and local governments to participate, and includes further discounts when the defined spend thresholds are exceeded.
