RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Upon learning news that North Carolina's unemployment rate has continued to drop to 6.4 percent in February, Gov. Pat McCrory issued the following statement. The new, lower rate represents the first time North Carolina's rate has been lower than the national average since 2006.

“I’m pleased to see that more and more people are getting back to work, but the job is far from finished,” said Governor Pat McCrory. “While I am encouraged by the continued progress we have made over such a short period of time, we will remain focused on pro-jobs policies that help people get back to work and position North Carolina for a strong and steady comeback over the long-term.”

According to the governor, Over the month, the number of people employed increased by over 7,000 and increased to over 48,000 since this time last year. North Carolina’s February 2014 unemployment rate was 2.2 percentage points lower than a year ago.
