FAYETTEVILLE, (AP) — A North Carolina Highway Patrol trooper has been found responsible for a wreck on Interstate 95 in Cumberland County.
The Fayetteville Observer reports that 32-year-old Trooper M.A. Bethea will be disciplined internally for the wreck Wednesday morning.
A patrol spokesman says Bethea failed to yield the right of way when he was merging onto the road.
Officials say Bethea was chasing a speeder when he entered the road. But they say he had not turned on his blue lights when his cruiser was rear-ended by a vehicle.
Both the trooper and the driver of the other car suffered minor injuries. No charges have been filed against the other driver.
