Duke And Southpointe Compete For Operating Rooms In Durham County Print

Two providers have filed certificate of need applications with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to develop operating rooms in Durham County.  

 
The proposals are as follows: 
Southpoint Surgery Center LLC proposes to develop an ambulatory surgical facility in Durham with four operating rooms and two procedure rooms. The project is expected to cost $12.1 million and would be completed in January 2021. 
 
Duke University Health System Inc. proposes to add four operating rooms at Duke University Hospital for a total of 69 operating rooms. The project is expected to cost $17.2 million and would be completed in July 2021. 
 
A public hearing for these proposals will be held Jan. 18 at 10 a.m. in conference room 104, Brown Building, Dorothea Dix Campus, 801 Biggs Drive, Raleigh.
 
Anyone may file written comments concerning this proposal. Comments must be received by the Healthcare Planning and Certificate of Need Section no later than 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 31.
