Former Hope Mills Mayor Edwin Deaver has died at age 83 according to the Fayetteville Observer. 

 

Deaver was a town commissioner and appointed mayor in 1992. He then served as mayor for six two-year terms. 

 

In 2014, Deaver became a Hope Mills town commissioner where he was also known as the town's the poet laureate.
