Raleigh, N.C. - Governor Pat McCrory, N.C. Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla, III and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) announced that Direct Pack, Inc. will locate a new East Coast facility in Richmond County, creating 94 jobs over the next five years. The company plans to invest $12.75 million in the City of Rockingham.

Direct Pack, Inc., a subsidiary of PMC Global, Inc., is a leader in customized thermoformed packaging for all food applications such as agriculture, food service, supermarket chains and food processors. The company’s innovative packaging designs give their products an advantage at the retail level. Headquartered in Azusa, California, the company operates California facilities in Sun Valley, Salinas and Ontario as well as one in Bloomfield, New Jersey. PMC Global has company owned warehouses throughout the United States to maintain timely inventories for customers.

The company will hire management, operations and maintenance personnel for the new facility. The company’s annual payroll impact will add more than $2.3 million to the local economy each year.

The project was made possible in part by a performance-based grant from the One North Carolina Fund of up to $300,000. The One NC Fund provides financial assistance, through local governments, to attract business projects that will create new jobs and investment in the state. Companies receive no money up front and must meet job creation and investment performance targets to qualify for payment. One NC grants also require and are contingent upon financial matches from local governments.

In addition to North Carolina Commerce and EDPNC, other key partners in the project include the North Carolina General Assembly, the North Carolina Community College System, Richmond Community College, Richmond County Board of Commissioners, and Richmond County Economic Development.
