RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - It's called the Manteo and it will replace a nearly 50-year-old dredging vessel. This week, the Ferry Division christened the 154-foot vessel capable of dredging a channel up to 30 feet.

The Manteo's job is to keep ferry channels clear from the Cape Fear River to Currituck Sound, according to Gov. Pat McCrory's office. The governor was on hand this week for the christening.
