RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Western North Carolinians experiencing overdose of opiods now have access to an overdose reversal drug, owing to a partnership between two organizations serving that part of the state.

Northcarolinahealthnews.org reports that Smoky Mountain LME/MCO and the North Carolina Harm Reduction Coalition have partnered to distribute naloxone nasal spray kits.

Smoky Mountain is the  managed care substance abuse services in western North Carolina with public funds. The website reports the organization bought more than 2,600 kits. The partnering group will distribute them to law enforcement and others.

The same procedure is being deployed in eastern North Carolina, where the managed care entity bought 100 kits that have been given to police in Manteo and Jacksonville.
