RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - In a unanimous vote, the Kure Beach Town Council says it opposes drilling for oil off the North Carolina coast. It also opposes testing.

The Associated Press reports the action comes with a new mayor in the lead seat -- Emilie Swearingen.

Swearingen beat Mayor Dean Lambeth in the last election. Lambeth supported drilling.
