RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - CSX will build a transfer hub and shipping facility in Johnston County, a project to be built with private and public funds.

The project is called the Carolina Connector and is designed to improve transportation of goods between the Piedmont and Eastern North Carolina ports.

Gov. Pat McCrory's office announced the project this week. A news release said CSX has committed $150 million. A $100 million request for state funding has been submitted by CSX and the Upper Coastal Plain Regional Planning Organization to the Department of Transportation.
