RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Gov. Pat McCrory has requested federal disaster aid for eight North Carolina counties that suffered damage during Hurricane Joaquin.

If approved, the funds would help from Joaquin-related flooding and property damage.

The new request follows the October 21 request for an agricultural disaster declaration from U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to help farmers in 19 counties receive emergency loans for agricultural losses incurred during the heavy rains and flooding.

The counties that will benefit from the new request are:
Brunswick, Carteret, Dare, Hyde, New Hanover, Onslow, Pamlico and Pender.
