RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Supporters of passenger rail in Charlotte are getting a boost with a $25 million grant for the Charlotte Gateway Station project.

The N.C. Department of Transportation is partnering with the City of Charlotte on development of the downtown Charlotte project. It will function as a hub to connect rail and bus transit.

“We know companies want to locate where it’s easy to move people and products and where their employees can enjoy a greater quality of life," said Gov. Pat McCrory, "which includes access to transit.” McCrory was mayor of Charlotte before being elected governor.
