RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Rep. Brian Brown is trading a seat in the legislature for a job representing Sen. Thom Tillis in eastern North Carolina. Brown announced his resignation this week, effective immediately.

Local Republican Party officials in Pitt County must now choose a replacement to serve out Brown's term.

In a letter to House Speaker Tim Moore, Brown reportedly expressed "mixed emotions" in leaving the House.
