RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Rowan County paramedics will compete Sunday against five teams from across the state who would love to knock off the 2014 champs and take top honors in the 25th annual North Carolina Paramedic Competition.

The event will be held in Greensboro at the Joseph S. Koury Convention Center.

The competitors:

-- Rowan County

-- Davidson  County

-- Davie County

-- Forsyth County

-- Town of Leland

A news release from the Department of Health and Human Services says the competition brings each team out of sequestration and into a ballroom set up with bleachers full of peers. They are challenged to address a scenario that is a true-to-life situation, often with a twist.

The competition is for fun and bragging rights, but it also provides a training opportunity.

The winner is announced Oct. 6 at an awards banquet.
