2014 Visitor Spending Climbs In All But 3 North Carolina Counties Print

RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - North Carolina continues to be a destination of choice for vacationers. Data shows that in 2014, domestic visitor spending jumped to a record $21.3 billion, witih 97 counties showing gains.

Only Davie, Granville and Swain counties had lower spending levels.

Key data points on spending:

* near $5 billion in Mecklenburg County

*  topped $2 billion in Wake County

*  more than $1 billion in Guilford and Dare counties.

* $963 million in Buncombe County

* $785 million in Forsyth County

* $700 million in Durham County

* $508 million in New Hanover County

* $496 milllion in Brunswick County

* $490 million in Cumberland County
