RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Transportation planners in Carbarrus/Rowan and Winston-Salem have expressed support for putting transportation and infrastructure bonds on the November ballot. Gov. Pat McCrory has proposed the bonds, valued at roughly $1.5 billion each. The legislature must decide when and whether to put the plans to a vote. The plans are being marketed as Connect NC.

“Local planning organization leaders understand that long-term investments in our state’s transportation infrastructure translates to jobs, economic development and improved quality of life for future generations,” the governor said in a statement. “I applaud these organizations for their call to let the voters decide on these important investments.”

The endorsements came from the Cabarrus-Rowan MPO Transportation Advisory Committee and the Winston-Salem MPO Transportation Advisory Committee.
