RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Seeking to recognize Wilmington's place in World War II history, 7th District Congressman David Rouzer has introduced a bill to make the state's key port city the first locality to be recognized under an annual program touted as “American World War II City.”

“The City of Wilmington played a significant role in the war effort and is very deserving of the title “American World War II City," Rouzer said in a statement. "The city has done a fantastic job of preserving important pieces of war history including the USS North Carolina.  It’s time we recognize cities all over the country for their contributions to the war effort.
