RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Seventy-eight new jobs are coming to Chowan County. Jimbo's Jumbos, Inc. will create the jobs as part of its $30 million investment in Edenton over three years.

Jimbo's Jumbos, Inc. manufactures peanut products. North Carolina exported more than $12  million in peanuts last year, according to Gov. Pat McCrory's office.

The new hires will join 208 current employees. Employees are expected to be hired to drive fork lifts and work in the administrative end of the business.

The company's products include roasted and salted peanuts in the shell, peanut butter, granulated peanuts, oil roasted and dry roasted peanuts.  The company currently has 208 employees in Chowan County.

The project was made possible in part by a performance-based grant from the One North Carolina Fund of up to $156,000. The One NC Fund provides financial assistance, through local governments, to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create new jobs in the state. Companies receive no money up front and must meet job creation and investment performance standards to qualify for grant funds. These grants also require and are contingent upon local matches.
