RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - 2015 looks to be an expansion year at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport. The airport plans to start a new roadway in front of the terminal and will begin tearing down the existing elevated road and expand it from three lanes to eight, according to the state's NewsLink newsletter.

The expansion comes on top of the successful addition of 4,000 parking spaces in time for Thanksgiving.

The road project and terminal expansion are expected to cost almost $160 million and last more than four years.

Construction is also ongoing in the rental car area.
